BERRIMA BRIDGE

A very different selection that as a young plant can be very uneven in its growth habit often sending singular long branches in any direction . This anomaly soon finishes and the usual laceleaf mounding growth shape occurs . Foliage emerges in spring green changing then to green-bronze then to a fiery red in autumn .

A well named selection with its finely dissected foliage . Spring new growth is a bright orange-red colour that slowly fades to greenish-red in summer and is followed by a brilliant autumn display of bright yellow to day-glo crimson . A very sturdy and fast growing form that is extremely hardy .

EMERALD LACE

An exceptionally fast growing , anything up to a metre a year , superb mounding variety . The foliage is small compared to other laceleaf forms and is a pleasant apple green in spring and summer before showing yellow, orange and much red autumn colouring . Very hardy form that really stands out in any garden .

An old form from Japan . New growth shoots in spring and summer see the bright red deeply dissected leaves covered in a fine silvery pubescence for a few weeks . A very hardy , large and reliable selection that holds a good red colouration . Autumn tones are a bright scarlet . Probably at its best in afternoon shade .

Slower growing but densely foliaged and heavily cascading mushroom shaped weeper of great beauty . Yellow-green spring leaves are dotted and speckled with creamy-white markings . Summer blends the leaves to a dull greenish-yellow and autumn sees them turn to golden-orange and crimson . A superb selection .

FLAVESCENS

A selection that has the normal laceleaf growth habit and mounding mushroom shape but differs in the colouration of its new growth . Spring and into early summer the leaf colour is a distinct and pleasing yellowish tone , this then darkens in summer to green followed in autumn by bright yellow and orange .

Planted in a full sun position and the large dissected leaf foliage of this cultivar maintains a distinct reddish-orange colouration . A very vigorous and hardy cascading mushroom shaped specimen that always performs well and is an easy plant to grow . Autumn colouring is a bright shiny red .

GOSHIKI SHIDARE

A slower growing cultivar with leaves variously variegated with green , pink , purple-red and white . Really at its best in an area of filtered shade as it can burn and sulk in full sun positions if it is to dry . Occasional branches occurring lacking any variegation should be pruned out . Autumn colours yellowish .

HANA MATOI

This must rate as one of the most spectacular variegated laceleaf forms available to date . Purple-red leaves become heavily marked with green , white and very bright pink variegations . Will take full sun without leaf burn but is better in light shade to keep the variegation from bronzing in summer . Mounding and vigorous .

IRISH LACE

A variety that displays several different subtle colours throughout the seasons . The new growth in spring and summer is a rusty orange and upon hardening off is a green-grey . Autumn display is a mix of , orange , red , yellow and gold . Dense compact bushy form that displays the normal weeping growth shape .

Robust and hardy selection that emerges in spring a bright lustrous green . The overall shape and speed of growth are normal for this group and it is not a stand out form through the active growing seasons . The autumn colour change is where it shines with brilliant red, orange and yellow leaf colours .

LEMON LIME LACE

Spring new growth emerges a light lemon-yellow that hardens off to a lime green . Secondary growth in summer of light lemon-yellow overlays the darker lime-green giving a pleasant two-toned look . Autumn sees a leaf change to yellow-orange . A very dense growing plant that displays well in containers .

When young this selection is an unruly semi upright grower with a lot of vigour , as it ages the overall form and shape of it subsides into the usual cascading mushroom of this group . Red-purple dissected leaves slowly bronze in late summer and the autumn sees a deep crimson colouring .

A very eye catching weeper that quickly cascades to the ground . This plant tends to be taller than wide and although a vigorous form is not a large grower at maturity . Foliage is bright orange-red and turns reddish-green in early summer overlaid with new orange-red summer growth. Autumn colours a fiery orange-red .

PINK FILIGREE

Stunning variety that is not as regularly available as many other forms of lesser quality . Spring leaves are a purplish-rose pink that darken to purple in summer and then the new summer growth flush similar to the spring colouring gives the plant a two-toned effect . Autumn colours are orange-red before leaf drop .

RED AUTUMN LACE

Whilst most of the green foliaged forms of Laceleaf Maples regularly change to yellow and orange shades in autumn a few colour scarlet-red , this selection is one of the best to do this . New growth in spring is a bronze colour that quickly turns a bright green and holds until the autumn display . Hardy,bushy and choice .

RED DRAGON

Deep purple-red dissected foliage and a growth rate that is not overly fast on a neat growing weeping mound has made this choice variety extremely popular . This form holds its colour well in full sun or shade . Outstanding foliage displays of flaming scarlet can be expected in autumn .

RED FEATHERS

Red-purple finely dissected foliage that is very similar to the well known Red
Filigree Lace variety . This slow medium growing selection is far superior in
growth rate and hardiness . Summer colour is reddish and autumn foliage
turns scarlet . A choice variety .

SEKIMORI

This is a strong , hardy and vigorous , reliable green weeping plant . The slightly different to the norm leaves are a good deep green through spring and summer and turn to a bright yellow-gold colour in autumn before leaf drop . A good selection for garden use and it displays the usual laceleaf , cascading mushroom shape .

SHOJO SHIDARE

Deep maroon-red new growth becomes darker as the foliage matures on this large mushroom shaped form with an average growth rate . Like most of the purple-red group of weepers its foliage changes to an eye-catching scarlet-red . A very choice form that deserves to be more readily available .

SPRING DELIGHT

Very hardy and robust variety whose leaves are light apple green with a very
distinct crimson edging in spring . This edging colouring slowly fades in
summer heat. Autumn colours range from yellow to red .

STELLA ROSSA

If planted in full sun positions this mounding weeper that originated in Italy will , when the new reddish growth matures , display very dark purple foliage that is probably the darkest of any of the purple-red selections . The foliage colour is maintained throughout summer and autumn colours are bright red .

SUNSET

Normal mushroom shaped but slower growing form with outstanding foliage colouring . Spring new leaves open a distinct pinkish-orange and then mature to a rusty toast look before autumn changes them to a deeper orange shade . Sometimes will object to dryness by shedding some foliage . A superb selection .

TAMUKEYAMA

A very old cultivar that has stood the test of time , some three hundred plus years since its first listing . Spring colour is a reddish-maroon that becomes a deep purple-reddish green through summer followed by scarlet , red and orange in autumn . The seasonal colours will vary depending on the amount of sun given .

WATERFALL

Good bright green foliage is maintained all growing seasons before turning to a brilliant gold , orange and crimson in the autumn months . Like the reddish selection Orangeola , it tends to weep down quickly to the ground with a narrower habit of growth . Like Orangeola it is superb when grown in a tall container .
